Commuters go green

NEARLY 20,000 people across the city took public transport or walked to work yesterday after Shanghai authorities called for commuters to be green for a day. A total of 19,824 pledged their support for the scheme via a special Wechat account established by the city’s youth league and environmental protection bureau. The organizers of the event said it was a great way to increase awareness of the importance of environmental protection issues.
