‘Arrow’ park aims to be on target
XUHUI District will start building a large central park in its densely populated area between Xujiahui and Shanghai South Railway Station by the end of the year, the district government said yesterday.
The Green Axis Park to cover 70,000 square meters and form a shape of an arrow, will include several scenery belts with color co-ordinated trees and shrubs.
It will also include some jogging lanes for nearby residents.
Some 100,000 residents living nearby are expected to benefit from the park, according to the government.
The park will also have art museums, public squares and fountains. Two artificial hillocks of around 5 meters tall will also be created.
“The park will become a botanical garden without a wall,” the project manager told local media yesterday.
The green belt area will include ginkgo, golden larch and plane trees. A purple area will have lavender and iris, while the red plants include maples and hibiscus, the manager said.
Electric vehicle lanes will be built in the park, along with solar energy panels and windmills.
