Alert issued for airport’s big day on Sunday
PASSENGERS flying out from Terminal 1 building at Hongqiao International Airport on Sunday are advised to be early.
The newly renovated building opens to the public that day and passengers should allow for at least two hours before take-off to become familiar with changes at the terminal, Shanghai Airport Authority said.
All domestic and international flights at T1 will be moved to the newly open Building A terminal from Sunday, while the old B building at T1 will be closed for reconstruction.
Passengers can call the airport hotline 96990 to ask for assistance.
China Eastern and Spring airlines, which operate most of the flights in T1, also advised passengers to come earlier. Spring will have extra staff and volunteers on hand to help passengers. It has also promised to offer ticket refunds for anyone who misses their flights due to the opening of the new terminal building on Sunday.
China Eastern said it had sent messages to remind all its passengers to allow more time for flying out from T1 on Sunday.
The T1 building has 42 international flights and 68 domestic flights daily.
