Advertising broke child photo law
AN English training center in Changning District has been fined 400,000 yuan (US$61,538) for illegally featuring young children in its advertisements, Shanghai’s market watchdog said yesterday.
Advertisers in China are banned from using children under the age of 10 in commercial advertising, according to China’s new advertisement law, which came into effect in September last year.
DaDaABC, an English center on Tianshan Road W., used the images of 10 children, including Tian Yucheng, the daughter of former Olympic diving champion Tian Liang, and Liu Chutian, who appeared in the historical epic TV series “Legend of Miyue,” in its website advertisements alongside endorsements, according to the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau.
The watchdog has investigated more than 2,500 advertising-related cases and imposed fines totaling 81.14 million yuan since September last year.
