Thunderstorms and wind

YESTERDAY was the hottest day so far this year at 29.1 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

However, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to drive the high down to 25 degrees today. The showers will mostly hit in the morning and evening, and some areas will experience torrential downpours.

The rain will stop late on Friday, and the sky will be overcast on Saturday morning before the rain returns in the afternoon due to the collision of warm and cold air.

The rain will become heavier on Sunday but will taper off to drizzle early on Monday before dry conditions return in the afternoon.

After a high of 26 degrees on Friday, the mercury will drop to 23 degrees on Saturday. Sunday will see a high of 21 degrees.
