Temperature set to dip amid drizzle

AN overcoat or a jumper might come in handy as the temperature is set to dip this week, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said yesterday.

It will be mostly cloudy and overcast this week. The temperature will remain stable today, with lows of 18 and highs of 26 degrees Celsius. But showers are likely tonight due to a cold front from the north.

But the mercury will dip tomorrow, down to 17 and 22 degrees Celsius. The rains will be back on Thursday, further dropping the temperature to around 13 degrees Celsius.

There will be slight to moderate air pollution until Wednesday but the rains are expected to drive away the pollutants.

On Saturday, Shanghai entered shuangjiang, the solar term for frost falls, suggesting that the temperature was set to fall. But the bureau pointed out that the city usually experienced its first frost in mid or late November.
