Rural residents to be included in critical illness insurance scheme
Shanghai is to include rural residents in a new critical illness insurance scheme later this month to improve social welfare, officials said yesterday.
About 700,000 residents with a hukou, or household registration record, will be able to claim compensation for medical expenses on cancer, uremia, kidney transplant and mental disorders, according to the Shanghai Insurance Association. The services will be offered by Ping An Insurance Group and PICC, and the premium is paid by the government.
