New Year’s Eve closures

A large part of the city center will be closed to traffic on New Year’s Eve.

From 7pm on Saturday to 1am on Sunday, all motor vehicles and bikes will be banned in the area west of the Bund surrounded by Beisuzhou Road at Waibaidu Bridge, Xizang Road N., Beijing Road W., Chengdu Road N., Yan’an Road E., Xizang Road S., Fuxing Road E. and Waima Road at the riverside, police said yesterday.

Meanwhile, the off-ramp of the Yan’an Elevated Road at Jiangxi Road S. will be shut, and cars can only use the Bund Tunnel.

In the Xintiandi area, all vehicles will be banned from Hubin Road between Huangpi Road S. and Jinan Road and Shunchang Road between Chongde Road and Hubin Road from this Friday to 1am on Sunday.

From 8pm on the New Year’s Eve to 1am on Sunday, the area surrounded by Danshui Road, Fuxing Road M., Xizang Road S. and Huaihai Road M. will allow only pedestrians.

In the meantime, Nanjing Road East Station on Metro lines 2 and 10 will be shut down as well as the No. 1 exit of the Xintiandi station on lines 10 and 13.

Bund Sightseeing Tunnel and the ferry line Dongjin between Jinling Road E. and Dongchang Road will also be suspended.

Buses with routes across the affected areas will be rerouted.
