Local company to build Shanghai's 'most expensive' luxury cruise ship

A local shipbuilding company plans to build a luxury cruise ship which is said to be the most expensive one ever built in Shanghai.
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Cooperation (CSSC), will build the 135,000-ton luxury cruise ship, which is expected to accommodate 6,000 passengers and a 2,000 to 3,000-strong crew. It is estimated to cost US$1 billion, China National Radio reported.
This is part of a deal signed by the CSSC and Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri in Shanghai yesterday.
As per agreement, the two parties will set up a luxury cruise ship design and construction firm in Hong Kong, with CSSC holding 60 percent of shares and Fincantieri 40 percent.
