Later Metro services on Friday
THE operating hours of Metro lines 1, 2, 8 and 9 will be extended by 80 minutes on Friday night, the eve of the National Day holiday.
The city’s transport commission also announced yesterday that 61 bus routes would extend their operation hours to ferry passengers coming off night trains.
The extended service is in response to people wanting to hang out with friends or go shopping the night before the seven-day holiday.
This is the first time Metro Line 9 has been added onto the extended Metro service — the line is heavily used at night-time.
The extended service does not apply to the east section of Metro Line 2, between Guanglan Road and Shanghai International Airport stations.
During the extended period, trains will stop at every station as normal but the interval between trains will be 20 minutes. Major bus routes with stops within 100 meters along the Metro stations operating later will also extend their services.
