Forecasters predict sunny weekend
WEATHER forecasters are predicting mild and cloudy day today with the possibility of light rain, but the next few days are expected to be sunny.
Forecasters said the sun will return to ensure a sunny weekend and the clear weather will last through early next week.
In most districts, temperatures dipped below zero yesterday morning. A low of 0.7 degrees Celsius was recorded at Xujiahui although readings in other districts were minus 3 or lower. Chongming County was the city’s coldest place with a low of minus 5.8 degrees.
Smog was high with the air quality index peaking at 172 at 9am yesterday, when the density of main pollutant PM2.5 touched about 130 micrograms per cubic meter, fitting into the moderately polluted level.
The mercury will fluctuate between 5 and 11 degrees today, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
