Fair features hi-tech products for children's safety

OVER 1,700 companies from some 20 countries began exhibiting the world’s cutting-edge toys and child products at an exhibition in Shanghai today, focusing on the safety of children with high technology.

The annual International Trade Fair for Toys & Preschool Educational Resources are being held through tomorrow at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. It features toys, child safety seats, prams, furniture, and educational products for child below 14 years old.

China’s domestic child products market is expected to keep expanding to reach 19 billion yuan by the end of 2016, a 10 percent increase on year, thanks to the nation’s second-child policy, according to the China Toy & Juvenile Products Association.

The export volume has been increased by about 4 percent on year between January and August to US$34 billion, which means the toys and child products made in China have been increasingly popular around the world, said Liang Mei, director with the association.

As a highlight of the exhibition, many hi-tech devices have been installed on child products to ensure the safety, the association said.

A domestic child safety seat manufacturer, for instance, exhibits its innovative buffer system at the exhibition which is used for landing aircraft. It can protect the child during a car crash even in the high speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

A Chinese made children’s bicycle showcased a SOS and communication system based on the mobile Internet technology. It will send alarms to parents’ mobile phone when the bicycle fell down or moved too far away.

The drone, virtual reality and augmented reality technologies have been applied onto toys and child safety products being displayed at the exhibition.
