Domestic helpers digitized

MORE than 11,500 domestic helpers in Shanghai have obtained a digital card recording their identification card number, employment history, medical records and credit rating, in a pilot program to make it easier to check domestic helpers’ backgrounds.

The program, which started in May, will extend city-wide next year. It is also expected to help the city to establish a reliable database for its home service market, according to the Shanghai Commission of Commerce yesterday.

Employers can check an ayi applicant’s background by calling 962512, logging onto www.962512.com, or by scanning the QR code on the card or logging onto its WeChat account for reliable information.

Currently, 50 domestic service companies in the city have been involved in the program.
