6 lines to shorten train intervals

SIX Metro lines will shorten the train intervals from tomorrow.

Line 1 will shorten the train interval from 8 minutes to 4 minutes in the section between Shanghai Railway Station and Fujin Road Station during non-rush hours on workdays.

Line 6 will cut the interval from 12 to 9 minutes for the section between Gaoqing Road Station and the Oriental Sports Center Station.

The interval between Jufeng Road Station and Gaoqing Road Station will be adjusted from 6 minutes to 4.5 minutes during non-rush hours on workdays.

Train travel time between Jiading Xincheng and Sanlin stations on Line 11 will be reduced from 5 to 4 minutes during morning rush hours.

Other lines will also shorten intervals in certain sections.

The timetable for first and last trains on all the six lines will however remain the same.

The Shanghai Metro network has seen a rise in commuter traffic this year, handling a record 9.018 million passengers on March 21.
