Bacteria identified
BACTERIA from the same family that causes cholera has been found in crayfish served in a restaurant closed after an outbreak of food poisoning. Vibrio parahaemolyticus, which occurs in brackish water, causes acute stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea and can persist for up to 10 days. Tests found that Vibrio parahaemolyticus was present in samples provided by Zheng Wen Qi Crayfish Donburi restaurant and its customers, Yangpu District government said yesterday.
