Changning District uses Internet technology to monitor air quality
Changning began using Internet technology to monitor the district’s air quality in a pilot trial that will eventually be expanded across the city, officials said today.
The district government installed a real-time monitoring system at 11 construction sites to evaluate dust pollution in the air, said Guo Hai, deputy director of the district’s environmental protection bureau.
A new air quality monitoring station, Huayang station, was equipped with similar technology in May to publicize real-time air quality.
“The goal is to find a solution to the PM2.5 pollution problem,” Guo said.
Changning’s air quality has been moderate to inferior compared to other downtown districts. The district government receives some 500 complaints a year from the public about air quality, Guo said.
