Weeklong Shanghai A Cappella Festival opens

THE ongoing fourth Shanghai Citizens Art Festival will present music lovers a dynamic and interactive program this summer - the 2016 Shanghai A Cappella Festival.

On the weekend, 14 a cappella bands participated in a citywide contest at Shanghai Mass Art Center. It also opened the week-long 2016 Shanghai A Cappella Festival.

The winning bands will take part in a nationwide competition on Friday and represent the city of Shanghai next month for international cultural exchanges at an a cappella art festival in Taiwan.

The festival, which runs till July 30, will also host charity a cappella concert, master class and children’s classes.

Famous Swedish band The Real Group, on their first visit to China's mainland will perform this Saturday night and talk with local a cappella lovers.
