Suzhou Creek art festival to raise curtain next week with 100 events

LOCALS will be offered more than 100 public cultural and art events as the 2016 Suzhou Creek Cultural and Art Festival will raise its curtain on October 18.

The annual cultural program of Putuo District, to be running for around a month is held in its 10th year.

Among the events will be art and photography exhibitions themed on the history and development of Suzhou Creek, cultural performances and poetry recitation competition.

Global Harbor, the largest shopping mall in Putuo District will host piano concert, dance performance and clown show for the locals.

A highlight of the festival is a grand grassroots singing competition of "new Shanghainese." Officials said that more than 2,400 people, including 58 foreign expats from 18 countries have applied for the competition.
