Mercury to drop

THE mercury is likely to drop into the 20s over the weekend and early next week as showers, sometimes accompanied by thunder and lightning, drench the city, forecasters said.

The city’s average rainfall over the weekend is expected to be 30 to 50 millimeters and southern areas may see precipitation of between 70 and 90 millimeters. Starting tomorrow, there will be four days of showers and thundershowers brought by the plum rain belt. Western and northern areas of the city will see the heaviest rain.
