Act fast to get free concert tickets
SHANGHAI Conservatory of Music is offering about 50 free programs for residents who reserve tickets for performances during its opening week from May 8-14.
“With the first opening week being well-received by local residents last year, we will open our campus to more music lovers this year,” said Chen Ming, a conservatory official.
“We hope that our move will help more residents get to know our conservatory.”
A total of 2,165 seats will be provided for free for concerts, lectures, workshops, master classes, and even undergraduate and graduate classes of the conservatory, up by about 40 percent over last year. About 20-70 seats are offered for each program.
Outside the conservatory campus, the opening week will also feature concerts and programs at Shanghai Concert Hall and Shanghai Symphony Hall.
Highlights this year include the UK chamber orchestra Britten Sinfonia and a cello recital by Narek Hakhnazaryan.
Reservations can be made online or by telephone from tomorrow.
According to Chen, most seats were taken by 8am last year.
Those who fail to get reservations can still attend outdoor concerts at the conservatory and the Conservatory History Museum for free.
