SSIS Brings IBCC to China

ASK a teenager about his or her future career and you may not be surprised to hear most haven’t made a decision. Most students will not have the opportunity to get the right exposure or gain the relevant skills and experience to develop their desired career path before they begin university.
Imagine your teenage child building their professional portfolio, establishing networks and working with top-notch professionals, actively pursuing their passion, and gaining preferential entry to some of the best universities in the world.
All these opportunities will be made available through the new IBCC Program offered by Shanghai Singapore International School. SSIS just received its candidacy status for the new International Baccalaureate Career-related Program. It is the first school in China to pursue the authorization and implementation of this new program. SSIS has been working with the International Baccalaureate Organization for over a year in preparation for adding this exciting new program to the SSIS curriculum.
The IBCC is a rigorous two-year program for Grades 11 and 12, like the IBDP, but it also offers courses related to careers with internships, hands-on experience, and teachers who are experts in their fields. SSIS will first introduce Hospitality and Art and Design (Fashion & Clothing) classes commencing in August, pending authorization. In the years to come, this program will likely be expanded to include other fields.
Being the first school in China to pursue authorization for this new program has been a “dream in action” for SSIS. The IBCC program is only about six years old, but schools in Australia, the UK, and the US have already adopted it and SSIS is anxious to bring this program to China.
