Fudan and LSE collaborate on college

FUDAN University and the London School of Economics and Political Science are to co-establish a college of global public policy.

The two organizations signed a strategic partnership agreement yesterday. The move is expected to further boost academic exchanges among the two schools.

It is also part of a series of events of the fourth round of the UK China High Level People-to-People Dialogue, which opened in Shanghai yesterday.

The LSE-Fudan Institute for Global Public Policy, targeting postgraduate students, is expected to launch courses from next year. As part of the scheme, more workshops, exchange programs, field trips and joint courses are to be launched among universities of the two countries, as the China-UK Association for the Humanities in Higher Education initiative.

Proposed by Tsinghua University, the initiative will provide a mechanism for universities in China and the United Kingdom to enhance research collaboration and have closer exchanges in liberal arts and humanities, in the hope of promoting better understanding among countries and cultures.

According to the city’s education commission, Shanghai has nearly 30 collaborative educational projects with the UK.
