Agreement inked to attract more Chinese students to stay in Dubai

DUBAI and Chinese authorities signed an agreement in Shanghai during the Dubai Week to attract more Chinese students to study at Dubai universities.

The agreement, signed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai and the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), will ensure the degrees earned in Dubai will be verified by CSCSE and the Ministry of Education in China.

The partnership also enables greater collaboration in higher education and exchange between Dubai and China.

“The Chinese community has contributed greatly to the growth of Dubai, and we are happy that this agreement builds on our relationship,” said Abdulla Al Karam, director general of KHDA.

“International branch campuses in Dubai are known for the quality of education they provide and the multi-cultural values and skills they offer students,” he added. “We look forward to welcoming students from China to our diverse and happy city.”

The Chinese community in Dubai has around 250,000 people, including more than 1,000 school and university students, according to the KHDA.

During Dubai Week, more than 100 educators and investors from China participated in a panel discussion about the growth opportunities for schools catering to the Chinese community in Dubai.

Dubai is expected to provide lots of opportunities for international students to work after graduation. It is estimated that the 2020 World Expo alone will create more than 200,000 jobs then.
