World Tourism Forum to join with local university to train tourism talent

THE World Tourism Forum Lucerne today announced a partnership with East China Normal University to train talent for Shanghai’s tourism industry, especially the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, where the mainland’s first Disney resort will be built.

The first Talent Boost event of the non-profit organization will ask local undergraduates to create designs for major tourism projects such as the Shanghai tourism zone and will launch a competition among the participants.

The local participants will compete and communicate with tourism students of other major universities and tourism colleges around the world.

It will also become a platform for the world’s tourism companies to work with local authorities, said Martin Barth, president of the forum.

The forum will hold a biennial conference in Shanghai starting in 2016 with participation of the world’s major companies and the Shendi Group, the operator of the tourism zone.

The World Tourism Forum Lucerne is a professional interdisciplinary platform which offers decision-makers in business, government, science and finance an overview of current topics and trends in the tourism industry. The forum is managed through an association at the Institute of Tourism of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The Institute of Tourism is a leader in Switzerland in the field of applied research and industry consulting.
