Shanghai records hottest day of the year

OBSERVATORY stations in downtown Xujiahui in Shanghai recorded 39 degrees Celsius by 1:30pm, marking this year’s new high.
Around 1pm, a yellow alert for lightening was released, forecasting lightening across the city and severe thunderstorm in some regions in six hours. Besides, residents living and working in the Pudong New Area are warned to brace for hail as an orange alert was released.
