'The Three-Body Problem' wraps up shooting, int'l distribution expected

THE highly-expected Chinese sci-fi fantasy movie "The Three-Body Problem" has recently wrapped up shooting in northeast China.

International veterans who used to produce spectacular special effects for sci-fi mega-productions such as "Avatar," "Harry Potter" film series and "Life of Pi" are now engaged in the movie's post-production.

According to the film's producer, the Shanghai-based Yoozoo Pictures, more than 200 million yuan will be spent on the film's visual effects and stunts.

Based on a novel by best-selling and award-winning sci-fi writer Liu Cixin, the film is expected to fill the void of homegrown sci-fi blockbuster.

In terms of the novel's big fan base worldwide, the film will be distributed internationally next year. It is also expected to be developed into a franchise with by-products of online games.
