New education monitoring system takes effect on Friday

An education monitoring system will be launched on May 1 to supervise the management of the city’s schools.

Daily management, curriculum setting, student development, communication between parents and schools, social cooperation and the performance of governmental departments will be supervised through the new system.

City, district and town level governments are expected to establish monitoring and counseling offices. They are also required to designate professional supervisors, according to the new regulation.

Students, parents and other citizens are being encouraged to report problems to supervisors or monitoring offices. Schools and government departments should rectify problems found by supervisors or defend themselves if they do not agree with inspection reports. Reports by supervisors will be considered when doing work evaluations and considering school staff members for promotions.
