Massive flight delays and cancellations due to thunderstorm

A total of 101 outbound and 92 inbound flights were canceled at Shanghai’s two airports due to a thunderstorm as of 12pm today, airport authorities said.

Another 64 flights were delayed at the Pudong and Hongqiao international airports because of the heavy rainfall.

An orange alert was issued for flight delays and cancellations, forecasting that capacity at the two airports will be reduced by 50 percent from 10:30am to 10:00pm today.
