Lotus, water lily exhibition to have rare exotic species on display

A lotus and water lily exhibition featuring about 500 varieties of the flowers will open at the Guyi Garden in Jiading District on Friday.

About 200 varieties of water lilies and 300 varieties of lotus will be on display in a water area covering 10,000 square meters.

Some rare water lilies on display are introduced from the United States, Thailand, France and the Netherlands, and they also include some international award-winning flowers.

They are grown under the backdrop of boats, pavilions and rockery, adding a splash of color to the garden.

The 4th Shanghai Lotus and Water Lily Exhibition will last one month.

During the display, a painting and calligraphy exhibition, a flower arrangement exhibition, and a lotus photo contest will be held inside the garden.

Cuisines and snacks made of lotus roots and water lilies will be served as well.
