The Shanghai-based ticketing website Gewara.com launched its cultural support program for young dramatic artists and original stage productions yesterday, officials said.
The program is a collaboration with Cultural Wuzhen Limited, known for annually holding the international theater gala - Wuzhen Theater Festival in the famous water town of Zhejiang Province.
The two sides will set up a fund to invest in outstanding domestic theatrical works. They will provide funding and technical support to the incubation and production of the works.
According to Liu Yong, CEO of Gewara.com, they will also develop good theatrical ideas into movies.
"Creative scripts from domestic art college students and theater enthusiastists will be regularly selected to pitch," Liu said. "Celebrated theater artists will also be invited as mentors for the young talents."
The program is also a new effort of Gewara.com to encourage originality. Liu revealed that they will get more involved in a full range of the cultural chain and explore more creative and original contents.
