City plans ‘open and flexible’ polices to attract talents

Shanghai will attract more international talents with ‘open and flexible’ policies to help develop the city into a innovative center of science and technology with global clout, a senior official told Shanghai People’s Congress today.

Shou Ziqi, director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, said the city will introduce talent policies that conform more to global practices to increase the proportion of international talents in the city.

“We will establish a loose, free and tolerant cultural atmosphere to attract the talents,” Shou told local lawmakers at a meeting.

He pledged to give talents the “opportunity to achieve their goals and be fully respected, as well as a comfortable living environment” in the city.
