Chinese ancient classics published

THE East China Normal University published the third batch of 215 books of a national ancient literature collection project on Saturday.

The university kicked off the project in March 2010 to collect and study on different editions of books of ancient scholars’ and philosophers’ thoughts of various schools, as well as reviews by later scholars.

The team is estimated to compile 1,300 volumes and the project is to include more contents besides the Si Ku Quan Shu, or the imperial collection of literature in four divisions, a collection of ancient literature compiled in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The first 162 volumes about Zhuangzi were released at the end of 2011 and the second batch of 116 books about another seven less well-known ancient philosophers were released in 2014.

The newly published books included thoughts of Taoists, Legalists, Logicians and Eclecticists.
