Bullet trains canceled as typhoon pounds Fujian

A total of 22 bullet trains scheduled to depart from or stop at Shanghai Honqqiao Railway station have been canceled today due to the influence of Typhoon Matmo, the city’s railway authority said.

Of the cancellations, 20 were scheduled to depart from the station. They were headed to coastal destinations like Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian Province and Shenzhen in Guangdong Province.

The typhoon made landfall in Fujian last night.

Bullet trains to the neighboring provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu were unaffected.
