30 trains purchased for Metro Line 7

Shanghai Metro will add 30 trains to Line 7 to reduce overcrowding during rush hours, Xinmin.cn reported today.

According to Shanghai Metro’s contract with the manufacturer, the first train will be delivered 20 months after purchase.

Insiders also said it will take time before the new trains, which will have six carriages each, are put into service as they will need to be tested, the report said.

Line 7 runs across Baoshan, Putuo, Jing’an, Xuhui and Pudong districts. It has 33 stations and stretches 44km.
