Stations get names

The names of the 12 stations along the Hangzhou-Lin’an Railway has been decided and publicized for the first time, according to the official website of the Hangzhou Metro Group. Construction work on the railway is expected to start early next year.

The Metro operator publicized the Hangzhou-Lin’an Railway environmental impact review to solicit public response. The 34.8-kilometer inter-city rail will connect with Metro Line 3 and Line 5 and have five underground stations.

After it is completed in 2019, the railway will run from downtown Hangzhou to Lin’an, a county-level city on the west, and pass through several industrial parks and commercial zones.

The 12 stations from west to east are: Jinnan New Town Station, Lin’an Square Station, Agriculture and Forestry University Station, High and New Tech Zone Station, Qingshan Lake Station, Scientific Town Station in Lin’an; Nanfeng Village Station, Tiaotou Village Station, Nanhu New Town Station, Old Yuhang Town Station, Chengnan Road Station and Luting Road Station in Yuhang District.

Hangzhou plans to build three more inter-city railways — a 47.3km railway to Haining with 10 stations, a 24.2km railway to Shaoxing with eight stations, and a 25km railway to Fuyang with eight stations. All these inter-city rails will operate like Metro lines with a top speed of 120km per hour. Passengers can swipe their public transport cards to board trains.
