Electric buses

A new electric bus on route No. 290 will soon hit the streets after it debuted recently at the 4th Hangzhou New Energy Automobile Industry Expo.

The K9 e-bus produced by BYD Auto is the first electric bus using iron batteries and has the lowest chassis in the world. The bus measures 12 meters in length and has two doors with 25 seats and a capacity for 70 passengers.

The bus can run 200 kilometers after being fully charged. It can reach a top speed of 69 kilometers per hour.

Five electric buses now serve the No. 290 route between Wensan Road W. and Suzhou Railway Station. If the trial operation goes well, more electric buses will be used on other routes.
