Arbitration court

An international arbitration court was established on Tuesday in east China’s Zhejiang Province to help local enterprises handle trade disputes with foreign parties.

The Hangzhou International Arbitration Court is the first institution of its kind in the province. It is affiliated with the Hangzhou Arbitration Commission.

According to the court’s head, Wang Guiguo, businesses in Zhejiang have long been at a disadvantage in disputes with overseas counterparts as they are not familiar with rules and regulations in Western countries. The new court will adhere to globally-accepted arbitration procedures to guarantee the legal rights and interests of entrepreneurs in Zhejiang, he said. The court will also recruit foreign arbitrators to ensure fairness.
