The ultimate in exclusivity

WHEN people think of Hainan Island — known as the “Hawaii of China” — they think of Sanya and Yalong Bay. This crescent-shaped sandy strip overlooking the South China Sea is the island’s most popular destination, with no less than 20 hotels straddling its length and sharing the same beach.

As with all Park Hyatt hotels, location is paramount. Thus, for Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, it is important to offer guests accessibility to this vibrant area while maintaining the luxury of privacy and exclusivity.

The property has therefore sequestered a private corner of Yalong Bay all to itself: a secluded inlet named Sunny Bay, a mere 5km drive from Yalong Bay property. In addition, the resort has also acquired Baifu Bay — a private bay right next to Sunny Bay, which is renowned for having the best dive conditions in China.

Located within the stunning 350,000-square-meter bay, with an internal lake and a private white-sand beach, is Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort; a number of private branded villas; and soon, sister property Andaz Sunny Bay Resort Sanya.

Park Hyatt provides discerning, affluent business and leisure guests with elegant and luxurious accommodation and offers them highly attentive personal service. Located in several of the world’s premier destinations, each Park Hyatt hotel is custom-designed to combine sophistication with a distinctive regional character.

Park Hyatt hotels feature well-appointed guestrooms, meeting and special event space for groups, critically acclaimed art, food and beverage programs, and signature restaurants featuring award-winning chefs.

Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, created by award-winning Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy, comprises six stand-alone, arch-shaped buildings designed to allow qi to flow unhindered between ocean and mountains. Set amid lush landscaping, every building and internal space has been carefully considered to maximize guests’ enjoyment of the breathtaking views.

The six buildings are interlinked by wide walkways, furnished and decorated with paintings and sculptures to create multiple scenes. Designed to resemble a private mansion by the sea, the sophisticated, elegant interior features a subtle Chinese sensibility. As in private homes, the spaces are flexible for guests to use.

The room structure at Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort is simple: 28 Park Rooms with balconies, 136 Ocean View Rooms, 25 Park Suites, a Chairman Suite and 17 Park Villas. Almost all the guestrooms enjoy breathtaking beach and ocean views from panoramic windows.

The culinary ethos of the culinary team at Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort — led by Kyo Lin from Canada — is to offer fresh seasonal ingredients, prepared simply, authentically and with passion in eight main drinking and dining venues.

Tea House is a traditional Chinese-style building topped with ceramic roof tiles. The impressive, light-filled space, featuring a mezzanine and a 9-meter ceiling strung with myriad birdcages, will serve a premium selection of Chinese teas, an afternoon tea menu and regional Chinese cuisine.

Meanwhile, Library is a serene, book-lined lounge offering semi-private spaces where guests can read and relax throughout the day and evening. Library leads onto Terrace, an elegant indoor and outdoor bar specializing in cocktails, premium whiskies, cigars and light snacks.

Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort aims to be the most upscale event venue in Hainan. With eight residential-style venues ranging from 42 square meters to 335 square meters, all blessed with natural light, outdoor terraces and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and lighting, the events team is confident it can arrange a successful occasion for all types of events.
