How often do you travel? About 3 times a year for long journey, plus several short trips.
Objective of travel: Relaxing and experiencing the versatile world.
Favorite traveling style: I prefer road trips by myself, which is really relaxing and enjoyable.
When I finish a journey, I always ... more than happy to share my experience with family and friends. Those good memories become vivid again when sharing.
How many destinations have you visited? Around 100 destinations.
What does traveling mean to you? I would say traveling is an important part of my life, for it balances the work and path of life. Like a famous saying in “Roman Holiday,” you can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on the way.
Do you prefer to travel alone or with family/friends?
For vacations it’s always with family.
Q: What kind of hotel will you choose when traveling?
A: SPG hotels, especially the Luxury Collection hotels.
Q: What do you value most when choosing a hotel?
A: Location. For leisure, staying in a seaside area brings a relaxing experience. During city tours, being downtown offers so much convenience.
Q: What facility or service do you think is necessary?
A: I like to enjoy exercising in the fitness center and pool. A club lounge is also a necessity to ensure a pleasant stay.
Q: What do you expect most of a hotel for an enjoyable stay?
A: Advanced facilities and good Internet connection.
Q: How do you book a hotel at an affordable room rate?
A: StarHot, offered by Starwood for its employees, is a great benefit program, the room rate of which is usually over 50 percent off the best available rate online, and the dining service in the hotel would be half price as well. When the StarHot rate is not available, I redeem my SPG points. I have to say that Starwood really has a good staff care system.
Q: Share with us an unforgettable stay in a hotel.
A: We stayed at Hotel Romazzino, a Luxury Collection hotel in Rome. It’s a destination within the city as it’s like a museum. Surrounded by cultural and historical relics, we could trace history back to the old Roman days.
Q: What hotels do you want to stay at in the future?
A: It would be W Retreat & Spa in the Maldives. The Maldives is like a string of pearls lying on the Indian Ocean and is described as heaven on earth. W hotels are full of surprises and are mysterious. Staying a couple days there would be a relaxing and interesting experience.
Q: Why do you go to Rome?
A: Rome is famous for its history, myths and legends. My parents and I are big fans of history.
Q: What’s so special about it?
A: While in Rome I can feel the real charm of this city. The historical relics of ages ago appear so naturally in the city, without any superfluous protection, but well preserved by the local people.
Q: What do you need to take with you when going to Rome?
A: Backpack, raincoat and a pair of comfortable sneakers are necessary. Some useful apps like Travel Advisor and Google Map also come in handy.
Q: What do you do upon arriving Rome?
A: As my habit, firstly I would love to double confirm my travel schedule with the concierge people in the hotel, to ask for their advice. They are always very helpful and warm-hearted.
Q: Which places do you have to visit when visiting Rome?
A: I would say all the highlighted spots in Rome are worth going such as Castel Sant’Angelo, Piazza di Spagna, Bocca della verità, Trevi Fountain. Walking around Rome is like watching the famous movie “Roman Holiday.”
Q: What local specialties do you enjoy?
A: The local pizza is amazing. It’s broiled in an ancient huge oven with good cheese. And the wine there is the best match to the pizza.
Q: Share with us an unforgettable experience during your trip to Rome?
A: The nature of history and the feeling of Rome has left a deep impression of the city that is etched in my mind. No wonder people always say, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
