When I finish a journey, I always cook myself a nice meal with a good bottle of wine to enjoy “being at home” again.

How many destinations have you already been?

I have traveled to every continent. My favorite destination is South Africa, which I also call my second home.

What does traveling mean to you?

I always enjoy traveling and spend a considerable amount of money traveling. It means to me to widen my horizon, seeing and meeting new people, destinations and cultures. Traveling means excitement in getting out of the day-to-day routine.

Do you prefer to travel alone or with family/friends?

With my wife or alone. It’s all good.

A: Five-star hotel with good ratings on TripAdvisor.

 

Q: What do you value most when choosing a hotel?

A: Location.

 

Q: What facility or service do you think is necessary?

A: Good restaurants and accessibility to surrounding sights or tourist attractions.

 

Q: What do you expect most of a hotel for an enjoyable stay?

A: A clean room and a comfortable bed.

 

Q: What do you usually do in a hotel during your stay?

A: Try the restaurants or bar; use the gym.

A: Via HRS or Booking.com; via our own (IHG) website.

A: A few years ago I had the privilege to stay in the Peninsula Hong Kong and was upgraded to the Marco Polo Suite with all privileges and amenities. This was the ultimate luxurious stay with an unsurpassed service level and hospitality feeling. The service level of the staff and the product standard was the best I have ever experienced.

 

Q: What hotels are you looking forward to staying at in the future?

A: InterContinental Danang in Vietnam and the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

 

Q: What’s your favorite destination and why?

A: Burj Al Arab in Dubai. To experience the highest level of service and standards.

 

Q: What’s so special about the city?

A: The architecture, the amazing variety of restaurants and the service level and hospitality of the hotel staff.

 

Q: Share an unforgettable experience in Dubai.

A: An amazing experience in Dubai is definitely the Dubai Airport. The facilities, the prices, the 24-hour shopping are unsurpassed. This is the only airport I experienced where a couple of hours between flights is welcome.

 

Q: What do you have to take when going to Dubai?

A: Money.

 

Q: What do you do upon arriving in Dubai?

A: Enjoy the VIP hotel pick up from the airport to the hotel in their Rolls-Royce.

 

Q: What places do you have to visit or things you have to see when in Dubai?

A: Visit restaurants, shopping malls, undertake dessert safaris, experience the most modern MTR in the world and visit the Burj Kalifa, which is the tallest building in the world.

 

Q: What local specialties do you have to try?

A: Dubai is a highlight of restaurants from all over the world. Any cuisine you favor you will be able to experience the best of it. My favorite are the Lebanese restaurants there.

 

Q: What gifts do you buy in Dubai for friends and family?

A: Gold, watches, perfumes, cigars and designer clothes.
