Exploring different cultures

Q: How often do you travel?

A: About once per month for business or leisure.

Q: What’s your travel objective?

A: In my leisure time I like to go around Asian countries and discover different cultures.

With business, I more often go to our key markets such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou with our sales team to visit clients. I enjoy meeting with clients and learning from them.

Q: What’s your favorite traveling style?

A: My favorite way is business class in the air and casual on the ground. I like to meet and stay with people. On my latest trip I stayed on a farm in New Zealand.

Q: When you finish a journey, what do you always do?

A: I like looking at the pictures I took during the trip. Once you look again there are more things you remember. I also like to share the great trips with my children.

Q: How many destinations have you been?

A: I have been to 58 countries.

Q: What does traveling mean to you in your life?

A: Traveling to me is exploring. Meeting people from different cultures is a way to learn. This is why when I visit one place I always go to local areas like a wet market and eat local food. Living like a local is the best way to learn their culture.

Q: Do you prefer to travel alone or with family/friends?

A: For leisure I always travel with my wife, sometimes with my children if their schedule permits.

Q: What kind of hotel will you choose when you travel?

A: Top of my list will be The Ritz-Carlton, of course. Other than that, I normally like to stay in a hotel that has the best location. I also like to try bed and breakfasts from time to time.

Q: What do you value most when choosing a hotel?

A: Location.

Q: What facility or service do you think is necessary during a hotel stay?

A: During a stay, a club level is a wonderful experience. For example, The Ritz-Carlton club lounge is my favorite — private service, nice and quiet.

Q: What do you expect most at a hotel for an enjoyable stay?

A: Engaging employees with excellent service.

Q: What do you usually do in a hotel during your stay apart from resting in your room?

A: I like to go to the gym. I also have to get all necessary local information from the concierge and just walk out of the hotel to experience differences.

Q: How do you book a hotel with an affordable room rate?

A: I like to book directly with the hotel, easy and immediate response.

Q: Please share an unforgettable hotel stay recently.

A: Trip to a vineyard in New Zealand with an extraordinary countryside accommodation. Upon arrival, my wife and I went for a run around the property. The scenery was beautiful and romantic.

Q: What hotels are you looking forward to stay in the future?

A: I really want to go to Tibet and stay in a B&B, I am also fascinated about their culture and people.
