Exhibition examines wartime era

IN order to mark the 70th anniversary of victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, five exhibitions under the theme “National Backbone” are taking place at China Art Museum through November 22.

Organized by the Shanghai Artists’ Association, Shanghai Photographers’ Association and Shanghai Calligraphers’ Association, the artworks include sculptures, paintings, photos and calligraphy by Chinese artists of different generations.

The spotlight among the five exhibitions is a photo exhibition titled “The Traces of New Fourth Army.” A delegation of 40 photographers spent nearly four months visiting about 20 veteran soldiers in Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. The delegation took thousands of pictures and 160 are on display.

There’s also a television showing the interviews of the veterans.

Organizers also spent a lot of time consulting experts and conducting research to obtain some first-hand materials.

The exhibition also includes many historical materials and remains to showcase critical battles and heroes. This includes rare historical photos of the New Fourth Army.

Date: Through November 22, 9am-5pm

Venue: China Art Museum

Address: 205 Shangnan Rd
