Daning Music Festival hits the stage

The 2015 Daning Music Festival bursts onto the scene next month as part of the Shanghai International Arts Festival.

This year’s festival is mixing things up by adding cross-over collaboration between pop music and Kunqu Opera.

Four shows will be performed at the Life Hub @ Daning plaza during the festival.

National second-class Kunqu Opera actor Luo Chenxue will take the stage with local band “Candy Shop” and ballad singer An Laining on October 24, providing a performance that merges tradition and contemporary.

Other performers this year include Taiwan pop singer Penny Tai, Panda Hsiung, and Korean a cappella group Exit.

The Daning Music Festival was first held in 2008 with acts like heavyweight Chinese rocker Cui Jian, known as the “father of Chinese rock music,” and the band Tang Dynasty. The range of performances at the festival has expanded quickly through the years.
