Student follows dreams to center stage

EVER since I was little, I’ve loved to perform. Something about it just gives you a thrill, whether it be the fact that you’re getting to show people what you love doing, or the attention, how everyone’s eyes are on you. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, just singing along to radio or singing around the house.

There had never been a doubt in my mind that that’s what I wanted to do, so when I was in grade 6 at WISS and my mum told me I could try out for the “Sound of Music,” you could imagine how excited I was.

On the tour, I met some amazing people, a second family. It was probably the best time of my life, travelling from city to city, staying in hotels, performing every other night to audiences of thousands of people.

I spent three weeks constantly practicing the dance routine, the song I chose and the two drama pieces I was given, and the results were worth it.
