SUIS students shine at exhibition, science fairs

GRADE 5 students and teachers at Shanghai United International School had a very busy eight weeks leading to the recent culmination of the PYP Exhibition. Every student made a great effort to prepare the exhibition and achieve success.

Adding to the pressure of the exhibition, students had to start with nothing. They had a variety of issues including overpopulation, stress, nuclear energy, artificial intelligence and education systems.

A number of groups raised money for charity. SUIS will announce the amount that went to each charity next week.

Science fairs

In May, budding scientists from PR to Grade 5 have taken part in three spectacular science fairs. May 20 saw the Hongqiao PR-G2 fair and May 27 was the Hongqiao G3-5 fair.

Students demonstrated their science skills and knowledge. On both of these occasions the atmosphere in the Learning Resource Center was buzzing and it was great to showcase the talent of over 150 students. Particularly enthusiastic and committed groups from each grade had the opportunity to take part in the Cross Campus Science Fair at the SUIS Wanyuan campus on May 23.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to join their peers from other campuses, all the way up to Grade 12. Several high school students commented on how impressed they were with the students' projects.

Ashling and Laila in Grade 4 came second in the cross campus fair.
