Language is integral to society’s development

LANGUAGE is the most powerful tool in a society. It enables us to communicate and spread our ideas, and also allows us to be influenced by the ideas of others. This gradual interaction of multiple ideas and opinions allow us to get a deeper understanding of the world, allowing us to set values for certain things in our heart. It has caused people to become more efficient by working together towards a common goal. The use of language has enabled people to gain more than the others as their ideas are the ones that spread most easily and they can help change the path society is walking towards. Language helps people find what is common in between the thoughts of every person, of what is considered morally right and wrong and what measures should be taken to prevent catastrophe and crisis. These common values later evolve into laws or unspoken rules, which create the infrastructure of a society. Language represents our society and is used by everybody; nobody can live in the modern world without language.

Language represents society and at the same time it represents anarchy. Everybody is given the right to speak, and nobody can ever be fully excluded from language. Everything in a language can be repeated with the exact same words and meaning, hence nobody is unique and everybody is at the same starting point. My voice matters just as much as the next person’s. Language can cause the conflict of interests between different parties, and it allows people to break away from the norm. Refusal to conform to current day values, rejection of what is considered to be “moral,” and looking for true freedom where nothing can be defined as right or wrong. Without language, women would’ve never been able to fight for their rights, minorities wouldn’t be able to fight against discrimination, and the public would not be able to protest against corruption.
