Getting a view of the ‘World at Night’
SHANGHAI Astronomical Museum is hosting a “World at Night” photo exhibition in honor of Global Astronomy Month.
The museum is located at the Sheshan Hill Observatory, which was founded by French Jesuits in 1900.
The exhibition, which will run through July, showcases 40 photos of stunning nightscapes set against celestial attractions.
They show features images such as the Comet Hale-Bopp passing over the pyramids, the aurora borealis over Iceland and the Milky Way over Yellowstone National Park in the US.
Visitors can see a total solar eclipse, shot in 2006 by photographer Tunc Tezel in Turkey.
Chinese photographer Kong Guocai’s “Star Trail of Liupan Mountain” is also on display. In the picture, a car light merges with a star trail, creating a magnificent view linking earth and the universe.
