Internet of energy moves headquarters to Shanghai
The global operational headquarters of Solar Power Efficiency Internet has been settled in Shanghai.
To mark this move, insiders from the relevant industries plus finance and research institutes gathered at a conference last month to discuss the future of integration of the Internet and solar photovoltaic industries.
As electric demand grows quickly around the world, clean energy such as solar is expected to be a primary energy source. But less than 2 percent of the electricity supply in China is new energy — a big gap from developed countries.
As the world’s first company focusing on internet of new energy, SPI, launched in 2005 in the United Staes, wants to establish a global Internet of energy, through which more people will benefit from solar energy and protect the environment.
Peng Xiaofeng, president of SPI, said the Internet of energy will be a multilateral trading network, where everyone can be both producer and consumer of energy.
