Technology changes down on the farm

Twenty-nine agricultural technical projects kicked off in Jiading District recently to bring technology into local farms and agricultural cooperatives.
Loudong Grain Professional Cooperatives invited agricultural scientist Rao Yanming to provide various services such as scientific fertilization and variety cultivation to improve yield last year and achieved good results. This year, their cooperation will continue.
Some other projects such as the cooperation between the grape planting expert Guan Liqin and Huijuan Grape Cooperatives have also been renewed this year.
The continuous cooperation has brought great benefits. For example, with the help of Guan, the average product value of Huijuan Grape Cooperatives reached 450,000 yuan (US$72,000) per hectare, up 127 percent from the average level of the district.
In another case, Feng Jie and Qiu Yifei, technicians from Jiading Aquatic Product Research Station, helped shrimp breeder Huang Haoqi in Ludu Village make a profit of about 140,000 yuan last year.
Jiading Agricultural Committee revealed that in the past 10 years, the district has launched 260 projects to apply technology into local farms and cooperatives, benefiting more than 3,000 farmers.
This year, the project is being introduced to more family farms.
