Production lines prove interesting for tourists

INDUSTRIAL tours are becoming increasingly popular among tourists and local residents.
Shanghai Volkswagen
Shanghai Volkswagen, China’s largest auto production base, is a national demonstration site for industrial tourism.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm
Admission: 50 yuan for domestic tourists and 60 yuan for foreign tourists. Groups only.

Totole
Totole’s Dongjin Garden Factory has the world’s largest chicken powder workshop. Visitors can visit the production line and see how the chicken powder is produced. Here people can also have a chance to learn how to cook Chinese dishes.

Admission: Free (reservation is required for groups over 10)

How to get there: Take Metro Line 13 and get off at Jinyun Rd Station and then transfer to No. 561 bus.
Yakult
The manufacturing equipment at Yakult’s Shanghai factory is the most advanced of the group’s 38 factories around the world.
Visitors can see varieties of Yakult products and learn about intestinal health.
The Yakult tour is a good choice for school pupils studying science subjects.

Gold Fish Park
Gold Fish Park is one of the city’s science education bases and there is a Chinese sturgeon breeding base inside. Visitors can see precious species of goldfish and carp.

Artron
Artron is known for its meticulous prints of artworks. Visitors can see a 380-million-pixel high emulation duplicator in operation and witness files and colors being adjusted by computer before the final product emerges from the printer.

Xinyingyuan Food Processing Center
The Center supplies 30,000 take-away breakfast boxes for 600 stalls and 200 eateries every day. Visitors will see different kinds of food processing. For example, soybeans, after being soaked, are transferred automatically into a soybean milk machine which turns out several different flavors as other ingredients are added.
